Blocking Vs Deleting A Contact On Facebook

BY · Leave a Comment

The rising amount of game requests and spam posts from contacts on Facebook can be quite irritating. Moreover, addition of contacts that you don’t necessarily know well may tempt you to remove them from your contact list. Fortunately, Facebook gives you the option to block or unfriend a contact. So before clicking, know the difference between the two.

When you block a contact, this action will prevent him or her from seeing things on your timeline, tagging you in posts and photos, inviting you to groups or events, starting a conversation with you and adding you as a friend. Since blocking is reciprocal, you will also be prevented from doing such actions.

However, blocking a friend will not prevent all interactions or communications. You may still encounter this contact through contents you have shared such as previous messages, photos, groups, events and app games.

For instance, if both of you use a Facebook app game, you will still be able to see the contact while you’re the playing the game. If you choose to remove a block, this will not restore the friend connection. You have to send a new friend request to that contact.

Meanwhile, when you unfriend a contact on Facebook, you are no longer on each other’s friend list. However, you may still find your contact thru Facebook search. In addition, you can still send messages and read each other’s timeline. Lastly, you can still re-add each other as friends.
