Creating A Very Good Website Content
Nothing beats the score of having a very good ranking in search engines than having a superb online content. Still lingering to the thoughts of the many bloggers of today is the idea that to do so, they must focus on getting more traffic and links, but they miss the idea that the best way to gain trust is to be credible—credible with content.
Today, we are about to take into a serious consideration what really makes a content good for a website. To be good in content means there’ll be more fans who would love to share such content with other people. And better, to be good with content means that you are exceptional—far exceptional than those who are fond of simply looking at the figures.
1. People-friendly content
Depending on the niche you are in, you might want to filter out your content based on your expected audience. Are your visitors going to be the kids or the aged? Businesses or freelancers? Mothers? Teachers? Entrepreneurs? Web developers?
Check out if it’s safe for you to use jargons and other technical terms. Do you think using literary figures and other figures of speech can harvest more visitors and make you look more awesome? Do you think it would be a trick if you use tables and charts and pie graphs?
If your site is a one-site-fits all kind of site, then you should optimize your content in a fashion that would be friendly and legible enough despite the age and the country. If you are to talk about technical terms, carefully explain at least to make things understandable for a fifth-grader. Be careful also not to put any emphasis or bias on any racial matters, or even gender-specific topics. Be neutral, be fair, but be honest as well.
2. Use the ‘standard’ structure or format
Just in case you might missed it, reading and writing for and on the web is a lot much different than doing it on a print or on your notebook. The key to website content’s structure or formatting is based on one reality: people don’t spend and will not spend too much time on a topic they don’t deem interesting.
Be sure to make your headline a strong and catchy one, along with a powerful introduction as well. Paragraphs should not exceed four sentences, and each sentence should be simple and straightforward as well. A healthy content is usually four paragraphs at least, and is highly scannable through the use of headings, subheadings, lists, enumerations, outlines, and highlighting elements such as bolding keywords or important words.
For it to be search engine-friendly as well, you might want to set your keyword density to at least 2-4%. Keywords are not necessarily the same words to be repeated, and they can be substituted by synonymous or relevant terms. And included in this query is the proper use of spelling and grammar. You know it for yourself, right?
3. Fresh content
Being diverse doesn’t mean you have to write about different topics within the same day; it only means you always need to freshen up the content and the feel of your posts.
Always be sure to have your content updated at least weekly especially if you don’t have time. If you don’t have that chronological luxury, you may want to outsource for a quality ghost writer to do the hard job, or you may want to open up a room for guest bloggers or writers. The key is that, as long as they have the skills, the content must be freshened up as often as possible.
Especially if you are running out of things to write about, you may want to go around your own field and enjoy reposting content. This may feel like it would affect your originality, but as long as you respect the author and the source, and as long as you show your own credibility within the reposted content that you have, you can still gain a good amount of respect.
4. Diverse content
Under this tip is the use of diverse content forms such as images, infographics, videos, slideshows, and anything else that will break the barrier of the usual text writing. This will make your site a lot more interesting.
Otherwise, if you are always into tips and tricks and other tutorials, you might also want to broaden your applications by posting some real interviews. Doing interviews is a good way to show that you are really good in your own field and that people will find you a bigger sense of authority. Other ways to put this is by doing reviews and case studies to related products or companies. However, by doing these, you are expected to be as truthful as possible, without any bias on either of the parties you are standing in between.
5. Join the trend
It’s what’s hot that will really get the shot. Learn what people in your field are up to. What are they talking about? What might they be complaining about? What might they be missing? And the most important probably, what might they be expecting?
You can also refer to a lot of sources starting with your own family and friends. You can also consult your own clients, your sister blogs or even your competitors, and you may even want to ask questions and conduct surveys right on your fans. Customers and visitors are no happier than seeing their questions answered or their demands met with an initiative.
6. Goal: Content
Your content should not be simply a content, nor is it there simply for quantitative purposes. Your content should be with its own goal, and it may be an answer to a question, an opinion to a common confusion or trend, or a solution to a problem.
Goals should be evident on the content itself. You should not make your visitors guess what the content is about or what it is trying to achieve. Your visitors, in the end, should feel satisfied, and this is the only gauge to know if your goals are met.
7. Goal: Site
content do have their intrinsic right for a goal, but it must also contain a relative end and that is to be beneficial on your site as a whole. What do you expect your visitors will do and should do after getting into your content? Do you want them to leave comments? Do you want them to be directed or be referred to a related site or page or content? Do you want them to subscribe to anything? Do you want them to download or try something?
This, again, should be very clear enough for visitors to achieve much easier. On top of this, your visitors must be persuaded indirectly into these forms of call-to-action figures. If you think that your visitors are responding well to these provocations, then you know your content are doing the right job.
8. Beneficial
Your content is worth sharing to friends and others because of only one reason: they might be beneficial as well to others. To make your effort for your content truly efficient, you must equip your content with a unique value for people to love.
If you are stating facts, be sure that you back ideas with supporting details from credible resources. If you are talking about specific products, you might want to offer screenshots, free trials, promos and discount coupons. If you are telling stories, you might want to include images or something that will make your visitors feel like they’re there.
Your content must make sure that your visitors will feel valued and important, hence benefits play their vital role to making your content truly valuable.
9. You
Nothing makes your content more for the people than revealing fragments of yourself to your work. Your content must be a revelation of who is the person behind the blog or the website. The values you believe, the principles you are sticking into, the materials that you have, and the practices that you wear—they all should appear consistently on the content you provide. In this way, your visitors will know that they are dealing with a real human rather than a content-generating system. Visitors will love you, and they will be there to support you.
