Creating A Board On Pinterest

BY · Leave a Comment

Pinterest Logo Small

Pinterest is a popular social platform allowing users to post and share images from around the Web.

The concept of Pinterest revolves around the use of virtual pins and boards. Pins are images which you can upload from your computer or download from the Web. On the other hand, boards are the individual pages where your pins appear.

Boards are reflection of your personal taste or style.

For instance, a user with a wedding details board is probably planning her wedding. Your board will become more appealing and will reach a wider audience if you use separate boards for each category such as food, fashion, or travel.

PS: This tutorial has been tested on the newer version of Pinterest.

What you need:

  1. A computer or a mobile device
  2. A Pinterest account

How to Add a New Board on Pinterest:

  1. Log in to your Pinterest account.
  2. Click your name located at the top-right corner of the page and select “Your Boards” .
select your boards from the drop down
  3. Click Create a board option (with the + sign), which is located at the left side of your screen.
    Create Pinterest Board
  4. Enter basic information about your board. This includes the board name, category, and contributors.
    Enter Info
  5. Press Save changes.

Some More Tips:

On naming your Pinterest Board

Pinterest is an online platform for creative minds, so choose a board name that is unique, engaging and simple. Limit your board name to less than 180 characters and seven words. Additionally, your board name will determine the URL for the board.

On choosing a Pinterest category

Users can browse pins by category, so you must be accurate in describing and categorizing your board. Pinterest offers a number of categories that encompasses a wide range of topics. In some cases, choosing a category may be a little tricky since some boards do not categorize well or may fall on two different categories. It’s a judgement call on your part.

On deciding who can pin on your board

You may create a board where other Pinterest users can contribute a pin or you may opt to have a board where only you can add items. If you’re Pinterest newbie, then choosing a board where you are the sole contributor is the most suitable. In addition, you must be following at least one board of the user to add him or her as a contributor.
