Hiding A Story From Newsfeed On Facebook

BY · Leave a Comment

Facebook, a popular social networking site, is a fun and effective way to keep in touch with your contacts. Through this site, your contacts can post a variety of content such as status updates, photos, videos, and links to external sites. These posts will appear on your newsfeed on your homepage.

Of course, not all of these posts are appealing to you. In some cases, you may find some of the posts annoying.

The good news is you can hide these posts or stories using the “Hide” feature of Facebook. You can do this either by hiding them through your newsfeed or via contact’s username. Follow these simple and easy steps to get rid of stories you don’t like.

Steps (through your Newsfeed):

  1. Log in to your Facebook account.
  2. Go to your newsfeed in your homepage.
  3. Point your mouse on the right portion of the particular story you want to hide. A downward arrow will appear on the right side of the post. Hide a newsfeed on Facebook
  4. Select Hide.

Steps (Through Username):

  1. Log in to your Facebook account.
  2. Go to the particular contact’s profile page.
  3. Click the Friends tab located on the top right portion of the profile page.
  4. Uncheck Show in News Feed. This action will hide all stories from this contact.

Things you need to know:

  1. You can unhide the story.
  2. After hiding a story in your newsfeed, you can modify what types of updates you want to receive from your contact or organize who you see in your newsfeed.
  3. If you hide a story from a business, brand or organization’s page, you have the option to hide all stories from it.
  4. Reporting a story or spam will remove the story from your newsfeed. This will also prevent appearance of similar stories in your newsfeed in the future.
