how to install popup opt-in form with leadpages on wordpress
Have you heard about LeadPages? If not, then you are missing a whole lot of opportunity when it comes to growing your email list. LeadPages is among the most popular and powerful WordPress plugins that will allow you to create a signup form within your website.
One of my most favorite features of LeadPages is their popup opt-in form. This is very effective when it comes to gaining more subscribers. For one, it will help your signup form to be dramatically noticed. With just a little marketing trick, you can convince a visitor to be part of your email list. For example, I offer a free eBook for new subscribers and this lures them in. You can do similar strategy as well.
With this being said, you’ll surely want to use the popup opt-in form of LeadPages. I’m enjoying the many benefits of LeadPages and I want you to enjoy it too. That’s why, in this article, I want to share with you the basic and easy steps on how to install popup opt-in form with LeadPages.
Step 1: Creating a LeadPages account
At this point in time, I’d assume that you already have a LeadPages account. You need an account to start using their features. If you don’t have an account yet, create one here.
Step 2: Create a LeadBox
The LeadBox is actually the signup form that will appear on your website. You have to set this up first.
- Log into to your LeadPages account.
- Click the Leadboxes found on top of the home page.
- Click Create New Leadbox. This button can be found on the right side of the screen. After clicking this button, you will be led to the Leadbox editor page.
- Click Integration settings. In this setting, you can select which email service provider you want to use. You can further customize other information depending upon your preference.
- Click Okay after finishing the customization.
- Customize your Leadbox. This is the time when you can now customize how your Leadbox would actually appear on your website. All customization options can be found on the left side of the screen. You can customize the following: Text / Font / Letter spacing / Font size / Button color / Text shadow color / Border style / Top border width / Right border width / Bottom border width / Left border width / Border color / Lock slider
- Click Okay when you’re done with the customization.
- Name your Leadbox. Enter the name of your Leadbox by typing in the name field found at the top left corner of the screen.
- Click Save. When you’re done with the customization and you have specified the name, you can now click Save to store all changes.
Step 3: Choose the created Leadbox
Now that you have your Leadbox already, it’s time to select that and turn it into a popup signup form.
- Go back to your Leadpages account home.
- Click Leadboxes.
- Choose the specific Leadbox that you want to use. Select the one you have just created or choose an existing Leadbox.
- Review and do a final customization as needed.
Step 4: Create popup Leadbox
Popup Leadbox is just one of the different options on how you want your signup form to appear on your website. But for the purpose of our discussion today, let’s focus on popup LeadBox for now.
- Click Publishing Options.
- Click POPUP LEADBOX.
- Customize your popup Leadbox. You can tinker with the following options depending on your preference and style. Please take note that all changes that you make will affect the embed code and any WordPress plugin using this particular Leadbox. Here are the options that you can customize: Time before LeadBox appears / Page views before LeadBox appears / Don’t show LeadBox again for
- Enter your time settings.
- Click Save Changes when you’re done.
Step 5: Publish your Leadbox
To publish a Leadbox to your website, you should already have installed the Leadbox plugin to your WordPress admin page. If you haven’t done it yet, please study this tutorial and be sure to come back here to continue. Please note that you only have to install the LeadBox plugin once to your WordPress.
- Go to your WordPress Dashboard page.
- Click Plugins and go to Installed Plugins. Look for the LeadPages connector plugin (again, you should have installed the plugin first before this will appear to your plugin list).
- Click update now. This will allow for your newly created Leadbox to be linked to your WordPress account.
- Go back to your Dashboard.
- Click LeadBoxes. You will probably find this somewhere below Settings at the lower left corner of your screen.
- Choose LeadBox. There’s a scroll-down list that you can click. This list shows all the LeadBoxes that you have created in the past. Select the specific Leadbox that you want to use. When you click a Leadbox, you’ll see the time configuration that you have set in your LeadBox account.
- Configure Show LeadBox On. You can click any of the two options: Every WordPress page, including homepage, 404 and posts / Only on posts
- Configure Exit Leadbox Configuration. This is optional. An Exit Leadbox will popup when your reader or visitor is about to hover their mouse pointer over the exit button. So an exit Leadbox serves as a last resort for you to convince a visitor to hop into your email list. To set your exit Leadbox, simply find the Choose LeadBox found under the Exit Leadbox Configuration Click the drop-down list and select Exit LeadBox. You can also decide where the Exit LeadBox will appear.
- Click Save Changes. Congratulations! Now, refresh your website and you’ll see your popup signup form already.
