How To: Make Your Friend List On Facebook Private

Facebook is a stalwart of modern day social networking. It boasts of more than one billion users at present. It allows users to interact with other users after being friends with one another. For being a friend on Facebook one needs to send a friend request to the other user and the other needs to accept it.

Friends gained this way are listed in the Friends list here. Facebook allows users to make the friend list public or private. If it is made public anyone on Facebook can look up your friends list. However, you can keep it private or make it visible only to your friends by following the steps stated below:

How to hide Facebook Friends list on Profile

  1. Log into your Facebook account.
  2. View your timeline.
  3. You will notice the ‘Friends’ tab option just below your cover picture. Click on it. Friends section
  4. Beside the Find Friends option, click the ‘Pencil (or Edit)’ icon. Click the Pencil Icon on Facebook
  5. Now a drop down menu will appear in front of your screen with two options: Edit sections and Edit Privacy. Click ‘Edit Privacy’.
  6. A dialog box will appear with three sections: Friend List, Following and Followers.
  7. In the Friend List section on the right hand side of your screen, you will see your previous selection for this option followed by a drop down arrow. Click on this arrow. Now, you will notice the following options: Public, Friends, Friends except acquaintances, Only Me and custom.
  8. To make your friend list completely private, select the ‘Only Me’ option. You can also go for the Friends option to keep your friend list visible only to your friends. Select ONLY ME option

Your friends can now ONLY see your mutual friends and not your whole friend list.

So by following these steps you can make your friends list private and forget about strangers and stalkers.
