Every one of us might have experienced the trouble of getting too many tweets from an annoying person. To stop that person from sending more tweets in your timeline, you can simply choose to un-follow him or her. BUT if you think that’s a little too much or rude to do, then you’ll be happy with the new feature Twitter has to offer. This is the “mute” option.
The mute option will prevent you from receiving updates from a person without even pressing the mute button. This is a soft way of saying that you don’t like the tweet coming from that person. So in this post, I’ll give you easy-to-follow steps on how you can take advantage of the new Twitter “Mute” option.
Stop Receiving Updates from a Person in Your Twitter Timeline
- View the person’s profile you want to mute.
- Hover the “gear” button and select “Mute ____”. Here’s an example screenshot:

PS: You can always use the same step to unmute a person.
