Tumblr: How To Stop People From Asking Questions (block Ask Page)
Allowing your viewers to ask you questions on Tumblr can increase your interaction with your followers.
By simply answering these questions, they can already make a good audience or a dedicated fan base of people that can increase the popularity of your Tumblr page.
So that means enabling the ask page for your Tumblr blog can be very helpful.
But as time goes on, you might regret this decision to allow your followers that kind of access.
Their ability to speak to you and ask you questions may open your Tumblr page to trolls and other malicious users that might spend time asking you countless nonsense questions or send you offensive comments.
In these cases, it is best to know how to disable this Tumblr feature for you to avoid receiving these comments again.
How To Block “Ask” Page
- Go to the Tumblr website and log in to your account.
- You should see a link on the top of the next page, click on the title of your blog.
- When a new page loads, you should see a button on the right-hand side of your screen. Find and click ‘Blog Settings’.
- Scroll down on the page until you see a ‘Let People ask Questions’ box. Uncheck it to disable the feature. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on ‘Save’.
- Finally, go back to your Tumblr homepage and check to see if you have received an envelope icon on top of your dashboard. It should contain a message from Tumblr that you have disabled the Ask Page feature.
Other things you need to know:
- While disconnecting from your followers may be disappointing, some Tumblr account owners do feel as though the negative and annoying questions they receive just justify this measure. And there are other means to allow comments on Tumblr anyway, if necessary. Although if you want to keep the ‘Ask Feature’ but you want to remove certain user access to it, then that is also possible.
- If the user is anonymous, clicking ‘Ignore’ will not only block their account but also the IP address of the computer.
Tumblr gives users the ability to connect with blog owners in a lot of ways. But these ways can be said as privilege, and it can be abused so as a balance – Tumblr gave blog owners a way to maintain and contract the activities on their blog page
