Using Pocket On Twitter

Pocket is a free service that lets you save content on your browser or mobile for reading later. Think of it as literally a pocket which you can store papers and small books so that if you are in the heap of work or studying and yet you want to check out a link to a good article or e-book, Pocket lets you save that link for later, even if you don’t have an Internet connection at the moment. In this article, we are going to show you how Pocket works on Twitter.

Using Pocket on Twitter from a browser extension

Here is how you install and use Pocket for Twitter from a browser extension (i.e. Firefox, Chrome, etc.):

  1. First, go to getpocket.com/add and install the browser extension.

  3. Restart your browser. When a pop-up menu appears, simply sign up for a new account (if you don’t have one yet).

  5. Whenever you visit a page or a link from Twitter, you can now simply click the Read it Later (drop-down) button on your browser and it will be added to your Pocket items. For a shortcut, right-click on the link and select Save Link to Pocket.

Using Pocket from a mobile app

If you want to use Pocket on your mobile phone (i.e. Android phone, iPhone, Blackberry, Windows phone, etc.), here are the steps to do it:

  1. First, download the app on your mobile phone.
  2. Go to your Twitter settings and look for the ‘Read it Later’ option to link it with your RIL / Pocket account (sign up for one if you haven’t yet).
  3. When you see a link on your Twitter timeline and click on it, a ‘Read it Later’ option will now appear on the menu for you to add it to your Pocket.
